Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading national volunteer-based organization in Canada dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer. Every year the Foundation, along with its donors, sponsors and partners, raises funds to support and advocate for:
- Relevant and innovative breast cancer research
- Meaningful education and awareness programs
- Early diagnosis and effective treatment
- A positive quality of life for those living with breast cancer
The BC/Yukon Region
The BC/Yukon Region of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1992 to make a difference in breast cancer and breast health for BC women. Along with its partners across the province, the BC/Yukon Region has set itself an ambitious goal to lead a coordinated and consolidated effort to see a future without breast cancer by the year 2020. In order to reach this goal, five recommended areas of work have been put forward that the Foundation and its partners within BC, across Canada and around the globe are engaged in. They are:
- Prevention
- Early Detection
- Treatment
- Research
- Emerging issues with the health care workforce.
To achieve the 2020 goal, small steps need to be taken. However, small steps are important and can come together to equal great accomplishments. The Foundation hopes that these five actions for both your general health and your breast health inspire you to do your part, today and tomorrow.
